Nassau BOCES has partnered with The LEARN Center to provide you with a broad base of knowledge through classroom instruction and practical experience in the operation of heavy equipment. Training and certification is available on the backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, front-end loader and skid-steer. Topics include safety, maintenance and the practical operation of the equipment. The School of Practical Nursing at Western Suffolk BOCES is approved by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the Council on Occupational Education. BOCES’ program offers a low student-to-teacher ratio that allows many opportunities for highly personalized, hands-on instruction. The School prepares students to work with patients and medical staff in medical facilities including nursing homes. Students are then assigned to a clinical site at one of Long Island’s excellent health care facilities where they work under the guidance of an experienced health care professional.
