BILINGUAL CERTIFICATE EXTENSION | ST. JOSEPH’S UNIVERSITY

Offers a certificate extension program which is suitable for teachers who have basic certifications in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, Childhood Education and/or Childhood Special Education, and Secondary Education. The courses offered are appropriate for teachers who, in addition to English, are proficient in another language and who wish to continue their expertise in teaching by acquiring knowledge and developing competencies working in a bilingual classroom or as a teacher of students with speech and language disabilities. A comprehensive child development Head Start/Preschool program designed to serve income eligible children 0-5 years of age including children with disabilities and their families. Early Head Start: provides early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families, and pregnant women and their families. Provides early learning, care and enrichment experiences to children in an early care and education setting. Staff members also visit family homes at least twice per year.

ParentChild+ at KULC

An intensive school-readiness home visitation program for toddlers and parents. Trained Early Learning Specialists visit families in their homes for one half-hour twice a week for a minimum of 23 weeks, for up to two program years. The Early Learning Specialist bring educational books and toys, which are used to develop early literacy and school readiness skills, increase the parent-child verbal interaction, model positive parenting, and promote pro-social behaviors. Learning materials gifted to the family serve the additional purpose of creating an educational environment in the home that generalizes to other siblings and serves as a bridge to starting school.

Preschool Program - GLOW YMCA of Genesee County

Offers the following programs: Two-Year-Old Play Group: Meets once a week to help children learn basic socialization skills through free play, arts and crafts, circle time, and snack time. A "first experience" for children to be away from their primary care giver and develop a sense of independence. Three-Year-Old Preschool (child must be 3 by 12/1): Meets twice weekly to reinforce basic socialization skills and promote positive classroom behavior through free play, arts and crafts, songs, finger plays, snack time, and physical activities. Focus is on helping children develop a love of learning by introducing basic literacy and math concepts in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Gym class and swimming lessons are included during class time. Four-Year-Old Preschool (child must be 4 by 12/1): Meets daily and brings together out-of-district 4 year-olds with Batavia City School district UPK students. Socialization skills and proper classroom behavior is reinforced through free play, arts and crafts, songs, snack time, and physical activities. In addition to daily gross-motor activities, gym class is offered once a week and swimming lessons are conducted twice a week during class time. Emphasizes kindergarten preparation in a fun hands-on learning environment.

Agri-Business Child Development (ABCD) at Fredonia

Provides Migrant Head Start for children of agricultural workers. Learning accomplishment profiles and child activity plans are created for each child. Also offers parent involvement programs. Disability services and health services are available through a center Health Nutrition Coordinator. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks are also provided. Program is NAEYC accredited and licensed through OCFS.
