Presides over all county court cases

* Offers crisis counseling for all victims of domestic violence. Hotlines for victims, concerned family, friends, and the general community in domestic violence situations or know someone who is. * Offers a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. No maximum number of children that may be brought into the shelter; if number exceeds beds available, other arrangements will be made. If no beds available, other arrangements can be made. Can provide services for male victims of domestic violence and their children. Collect calls accepted. * Provides advocacy for out-of-county emergency shelter support. * Offers support groups for victims of domestic violence. * Offers Court Advocacy: Court accompaniment with on-site advocate at family court. Help with securing orders of protection. Legal representation. * Personal advocacy to obtain needed services. * Emotional and Transitional Support Services. Information and counseling and support services. * Offers the Domestic Violence Prevention Education Program. For preschool, elementary, middle school, high school, and college students, community youth programs, parents, and businesses. * Provides transportation by police or some other form may be provided as appropriate. * Provides a hotline for Jewish women in domestic violence situations (Sara Line).

* Provides family court cases and handle the following items: Orders of protection/domestic violence. Child custody and visitation. Child and spousal support, paternity, child neglect and abuse. Juvenile delinquency and persons in need of supervision. Termination of parental rights.

To provide for public safety and law enforcement in Delaware County

* Hears family offense proceedings in various types of cases, including: Family offense petitions and domestic violence. Child custody, guardianship, and visitation petitions. Child support and spousal support petitions. Paternity petitions. Adoptions and child neglect/abuse petitions.

* Offers jurisdiction and hearing of family-related cases that involve: Child abuse, neglect, support, paternity, custody and visitation. Juvenile delinquency/Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS). Domestic Violence Intervention Court. Willow Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Program (formerly ABW). Temporary restraining orders. Guardianship/Adoption. Custody/Visitation Mediation Program. Adoption, foster care approval and review. Permanent termination of parental rights.

Provides technical support to attorneys representing crime victims in civil suits, refers crime victims to lawyers in their local area, and increases general awareness about availability of civil remedies for victims of crime.

Provides for public safety and law enforcement in Broome County.

Designated jurisdiction over both civil and criminal cases within Broome County

The Justice Court is responsible for handling all court matters, including parking violations, civil and criminal cases, and small claims.

Provides a service, in collaboration with 2 other agencies (My Sisters' Place and Westchester Hispanic Coalition) to offer free legal services for poverty level residents or those who are victims of domestic violence for consumer disputes, housing, education, benefits, domestic violence, orders of protection, custody, child support, family law, including citizenship applications, work authorizations or other immigration issues.

Issues a court order to protect a person who is experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse. Domestic violence is defined as an act or acts of emotional, mental or physical abuse occurring between individuals who are 1. Related by blood or affinity; 2. Legally married to one another; 3. Formally married regardless whether they still reside together; 4. Have a child in common regardless of marital status or have lived together; 5. Not related by blood or affinity and are or have been in an intimate relationship regardless if it is sexual in nature

* Provides family court cases and handle the following items:

• Orders of protection/domestic violence
• Child custody and visitation
• Child and spousal support, paternity, child neglect, and abuse
• Juvenile delinquency and persons in need of supervision
• Termination of parental rights
• Neglect proceedings

Assists spouses and family members in obtaining Orders of Protection and in the preparation of family offense domestic violence, custody, visitation, modification and enforcement of divorce decree petitions for the Family Court. Provides referral and monitoring of court ordered services. Refers survivors of domestic violence to the Rockland Family Shelter for advocacy, sheltering and legal assistance.

Provides legal representation to victims of domestic violence in Suffolk County relating to family law matters, including obtaining orders of protection and custody.

Provides county-wide 9-1-1 communications for fire, emergency medical or police emergencies.

* Offers family court services and provides the following: Child abuse and neglect proceedings initiated by DSS. Child Support proceedings. Paternity proceedings. Juvenile delinquency proceedings initiated by the presentment agent. Persons in Need of Supervision (PINS) proceedings. Custody and visitation proceedings. Adoptions. Guardianship proceedings. Family offense proceedings (requests for orders of protection).

Offers a 24 hour hotline for individuals who are survivors of domestic violence. Also provides a safe, secure emergency shelter for victims and their children. Assistance is available with obtaining orders of protection with family court including accompaniment to court, appointments and other supportive services. Provides personalized safety plans, children educational programs, and domestic violence counseling. Services are available to men, women and children. Donations of new clothing are accepted; new socks underwear and bras, are most needed, as well as pajamas, sweatpants/yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts of all sizes, children's sizes to XXXL adult.

Provides long-and short-term crisis intervention, including emergency relocation information, counseling, and referrals for legal, health, and social services. Serves as interpreters in shelters, assists parents with finding childcare, and provides parenting skills workshops. Offers a women's support group for women who have been abused.

Works to preserve the safety of the citizens and reintegration of offenders back into the community including an intake diversion unit , adult sex offender treatment program, juvenile sex offender treatment program, juvenile arson prevention program (the youth fire program), pretrial release, community service, adult intensive supervision, electronic home monitoring, local conditional release, juvenile intensive supervision, and juvenile community service.<br />
