Provides non-clinical advocacy and support to victims of domestic abuse, including crisis intervention, safety planning, transitional compensation information, emergency service coordination (housing, food, transportation) and protection order request assistance.

To provide for public safety and law enforcement in Delaware County

* Offers crisis counseling for all victims of domestic violence. Hotlines for victims, concerned family, friends, and the general community in domestic violence situations or know someone who is. * Offers a shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. No maximum number of children that may be brought into the shelter; if number exceeds beds available, other arrangements will be made. If no beds available, other arrangements can be made. Can provide services for male victims of domestic violence and their children. Collect calls accepted. * Provides advocacy for out-of-county emergency shelter support. * Offers support groups for victims of domestic violence. * Offers Court Advocacy: Court accompaniment with on-site advocate at family court. Help with securing orders of protection. Legal representation. * Personal advocacy to obtain needed services. * Emotional and Transitional Support Services. Information and counseling and support services. * Offers the Domestic Violence Prevention Education Program. Provides law enforcement for the residents of Chenango County. Residents in Chenango County can dispose of medications in a secure prescription medication drop-off box at the Sheriff's office Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. NOT for needles or syringes.

Provides long-and short-term crisis intervention, including emergency relocation information, counseling, and referrals for legal, health, and social services. Serves as interpreters in shelters, assists parents with finding childcare, and provides parenting skills workshops. Offers a women's support group for women who have been abused.

Issues a court order to protect a person who is experiencing domestic violence and/or abuse. Domestic violence is defined as an act or acts of emotional, mental or physical abuse occurring between individuals who are 1. Related by blood or affinity; 2. Legally married to one another; 3. Formally married regardless whether they still reside together; 4. Have a child in common regardless of marital status or have lived together; 5. Not related by blood or affinity and are or have been in an intimate relationship regardless if it is sexual in nature

Investigating all reported domestic incidents and providing assistance to victims of Domestic Violence. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau of the Suffolk County Police Department conducts confidential investigations involving domestic violence and elder abuse, and acts as a liaison to the courts, outside agencies and governmental entities. The Domestic Violence/Elder Abuse Bureau also provides outreach to victims of domestic violence and raises community awareness through education regarding family violence issues. Offers a 24 hour hotline for individuals who are survivors of domestic violence. Also provides a safe, secure emergency shelter for victims and their children. Assistance is available with obtaining orders of protection with family court including accompaniment to court, appointments and other supportive services. Provides personalized safety plans, educational support groups, and domestic violence counseling. Services are available to men, women and children. Donations of new clothing are accepted; new socks underwear and bras, are most needed, as well as pajamas, sweatpants/yoga pants, t-shirts and sweatshirts of all sizes, children's sizes to XXXL adult.

Provides holistic legal assistance to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault with civil legal needs related to the abuse

Family Court can help residents obtain an order of protection, file a violation, obtain custody of children, get child support, visitation, and provided other family related services. If some one needs to obtain or to modify a Family Court Order of Protection. While people are in court there is a free child care room at the YWCA for them to bring children. Children are not allowed into the court room, unless otherwise advised.

Provides a service, in collaboration with 2 other agencies (My Sisters' Place and Westchester Hispanic Coalition) to offer free legal services for poverty level residents or those who are victims of domestic violence for consumer disputes, housing, education, benefits, domestic violence, orders of protection, custody, child support, family law, including citizenship applications, work authorizations or other immigration issues.

Works to preserve the safety of the citizens and reintegration of offenders back into the community including an intake diversion unit , adult sex offender treatment program, juvenile sex offender treatment program, juvenile arson prevention program (the youth fire program), pretrial release, community service, adult intensive supervision, electronic home monitoring, local conditional release, juvenile intensive supervision, and juvenile community service.
