Provides representation to individuals fleeing gang and other violence in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. The Clinic seeks to obtain legal status for its clients by means of asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. At Legal Hand, trained non-lawyer community volunteers provide free legal information, assistance, and referrals to help resolve issues that affect individuals, in areas like employment, housing, family, immigration, domestic violence, and benefits, and prevent problems from turning into legal cases.

Supports for victims include legal advocacy, a domestic violence hotline, safety planning, legal clinics, counseling, emergency cell phones, support groups, children's counseling and support groups, court accompaniment, resource advocacy, and direct access to emergency assistance. Transportation is provided to victims of domestic violence and their children as well as educational presentations, trainings and workshops for schools, and community groups.
