Rural Sullivan also runs a comprehensive housing counseling program which assists persons through home ownership counseling, loan default remediation, and tenant/landlord issues.

Once Hotline volunteers conduct intake, tenants are connected with a law student who works closely with a licensed attorney to provide the brief advice.

This program consists of cash assistance to eligible needy families that include a minor child living with a parent (including families where both parents are in the household) or a caretaker relative. * Offers quality housing unit/repair.* Provides information and referral for DHS clients experiencing difficulties with landlords through the Landlord hotline.* Offers the employment unit that assists in job seeking services.* Provides assistance safety planning, obtaining legal documents, and securing safe shelter to TANF clients who are victims of domestic violence.

The Hudson Valley Justice Center offers direct representation and advice to low income residents of the Hudson Valley. The office focuses on the following areas of law: Eviction defense and other landlord-tenant disputes, domestic violence, Benefits hearings for eligible citizens, Immigration, Family Law Matters.

Provides a service, in collaboration with 2 other agencies (My Sisters' Place and Westchester Hispanic Coalition) to offer free legal services for poverty level residents or those who are victims of domestic violence for consumer disputes, housing, education, benefits, domestic violence, orders of protection, custody, child support, family law, including citizenship applications, work authorizations or other immigration issues.

Handles Civil Court: jurisdiction limited to damages up to $15,000, Small Claims Court - simplified procedure, damages up to $5,000, Landlord & Tenant Court - housing proceedings and evictions, Town Ordinance offenses and Community Court offenses prosecuted by the Towns.

Offers legal counseling, information, and assistance with such concerns as Health Care Proxy, wills, guardianship, power of attorney, living wills and trusts, consumer fraud, contractual disputes, tenant-landlord disputes, home ownership questions, neighbor disputes, Social Security questions, Medicare and Medicaid related problems, SSI application, and eligibility questions.

Provides on-site emergency food pantry for residents of specific streets in Niagara Falls (call for details) and information on meal planning and budgeting. Also distributes food donations (separate from pantry services) three days per week; first come, first served. Items and quantities vary each week according to donations received, and are given out until they're gone. Provides back rent, mortgage, and utility payment assistance to low income residents of Niagara Falls when funds are available; funds are available as of August 2024. Fair Housing Advocacy Program assists individuals who feel they are victims of discrimination when purchasing or renting a home. Provides information, assessment, and referral to the appropriate federal, state, or local human rights agency or court. Housing location services and landlord/tenant advocacy also provided. Individual advocacy, information and referral, application assistance, case management, asset management, and budget counseling available. Baby Needs Program meets the emergency needs of infants and very young children by providing them with a supply of diapers, infant formula, baby food, and baby care products. Limited quantities available.

Assists in landlord/tenant issues and is active in rural, homeless prevention and assistance in affordable housing for working families.

Legal problems handled involve basic needs such as housing, health care, food and income. Focus is on entitlement programs such as public assistance, Medicaid, food stamps and SSI as well as on housing problems involving evictions, foreclosure and poor housing conditions. Specialized units include Mental Health Law Project, SSI/Disability Advocacy Project, Domestic Violence Project, Pro-Bono Project, HIV Advocacy, disability discrimination, adult home advocacy, veterans. senior citizens, and homecare advocacy.

Eviction Assistance: Provides help to low income who are qualified for subsidized housing and section 8 choice vouchers. For those who may not be qualified for subsidized/section 8, provide older adults, veterans, domestic violence, LGBQT, breast cancer, or individuals diagnosed with AIDS who may be a target for eviction. Landlord/Tenant Dispute Resolution: Aids individuals struggling with their landlord for reasons ranging from eviction, living conditions, recurring problems, etc. Foreclosure Assistance: helps advocate for individuals with mortgage foreclosure with guidance through the legal process and representation, if needed.

Assists in resolving landlord-tenant issues and identify legal and other resources that may be helpful. Also provides eviction prevention grants to renters, and relocation help for the homeless based on completing application and providing documents. If help cannot be provided then a referral can be made for assistance from another agency.

Provides free legal advice, counseling, advocacy and representation for low income individuals in civil (non-criminal) matters.
