Once Hotline volunteers conduct intake, tenants are connected with a law student who works closely with a licensed attorney to provide the brief advice.

Provides legal assistance to persons and families threatened with homelessness due to eviction, foreclosure, utility shutoff, code violations, or other causes including mobile home park issues and land contract problems. Assists the household in trying to resolve the housing crisis and provides legal case management services to help the household maintain economic stability. Works to prevent evictions and, with community partners, provides rapid re-housing to our clients.

Helps people who are applying for public or subsidized housing who have been denied, or tenants in public or subsidized housing who are worried about losing their subsidy or who have questions about how their rent has been calculated. Helps tenants whose landlords are not making necessary repairs and who are forced to live under unsafe or hazardous conditions. Also provides legal assistance and advocacy to people who have encountered discrimination while looking for housing, or during their tenancy. - Entitlements Advocacy: Assists tenants with welfare, food stamps, Medicaid, SSI, and utilities.

The Housing Resource Center provides services for Yonkers residents, that educate tenants, prevent eviction, end homelessness, and improve living conditions for singles and families. For over 20 years, we have been assisting households with a wide range of services, including: professional guidance to prevent evictions, code enforcement for improved housing conditions, emergency assistance for displaced families, tenant education and training short-term financial assistance with intensive case management for qualifying households.

The Housing Unit offers comprehensive social services to families and individuals facing potential homelessness. Housing staff coordinates with family members, landlords and attorneys to avert impending evictions, negotiate payment of rent arrears and explore housing alternatives.-Emergency shelter placement is provided when necessary. Emergency Family Shelter is for families. Referrals to other DSS or County Units are made as needed.
The Hudson Valley Justice Center offers direct representation and advice to low income residents of the Hudson Valley. The office focuses on the following areas of law: Eviction defense and other landlord-tenant disputes, domestic violence, Benefits hearings for eligible citizens, Immigration, Family Law Matters.
