Provides representation to individuals fleeing gang and other violence in El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala. The Clinic seeks to obtain legal status for its clients by means of asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. The Immigrant Services Program (ISP) targets our services to assist immigrants, refugees, asylees, and new arrivals who are living in low-income households, have language and/or cultural barriers, and need assistance in accessing community resources. However, we do assist others as staff time is available. Direct services, case management, and referrals are provided to clients to help them gain self-sufficiency.Examples of our services include:. Assistance with completing notices regarding social services and public benefitsCatholic Charities is recognized by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security as a non-profit agency that can provide low-cost legal immigration services. Services are fee-based, and we offer a sliding scale for individuals who are living in low-income households. We are affiliated with the Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc.
