Responsible for the establishment and enforcement of child support orders; paternity establishment; location of absent parents for child support purposes; collection and disbursement of child support, including medical insurance coverage and day care support. Obtains support from out of state respondents. Limited help available for spousal only support. Can provide legal representation in family court for non-Public Assistance clients, if requested by client.

Assists custodial parents in obtaining an order of support; assists in getting paternity established; and enforces Court Orders for Child Support.

Provides assistance which helps to ensure that parents fulfill their mutual obligation to financially support and provide health care for their children. Included are services for people who want to locate an absent parent; establish paternity; establish a child support order; request that the non-custodial parent provide health insurance for a child in conjunction with a child support order; change the amount of a child support award; dispute a child support award; or enforce payment of child support monies in cases where the supporting parent is delinquent in paying or refuses to pay or make health insurance arrangements altogether. Provides legal assistance for people who want to petition the court to transfer the right to collect wages earned by their ex-spouses to themselves in cases where the ex-spouse is under court order to pay child support and fails to pay as required. Under this arrangement, the amount of the child support check is taken from the delinquent parent's paycheck and sent directly to the parent who has custody of the child.

Provides services to locate absent non-custodial parents, establish paternity, establish court ordered child support, and enforce orders of child support. Responsible for prosecuting in Family Court all cases involving child abuse, child neglect, termination of parental rights, and court ordered support child. Represents the Department during Fair Hearings involving reports from the State Central Registry. Also handles Adult Protective Services that may seek court orders for entry into a home, short term intervention orders and establishment of financial and/or personal guardianship for incapacitated adults. Investigates and prosecutes welfare fraud; operates collection process for money owed to DSS. Child/Teen Health Program is a preventive health program which provides continuing medical care to your children.

Provides motor vehicle and other driver services such as: renewals for operator and motorcycle licenses, permits, and non-driver ID cards; amendments to all types of licenses, permits and non-driver ID cards; conversion of out-of state licenses to NY; renewals of registrations; new plates for passenger and commercial vehicles, trailers, and motorcycles; amendments to registrations for all vehicle types; plate transfers from one vehicle to another for all vehicle types; plate surrenders; and enforcement matters including DWI, child support payments and insurance lapses. Services are available to any parent, guardian, or caretaker of a child for whom child support is needed. If you are applying for Public Assistance, or Medicaid, filing for child support from the non-custodial parents is part of the application process. If you are an applicant for, or a recipient of Public Assistance for a child, child support services are automatically provided unless seeking child support may result in physical or emotional harm to you or your child. The Nassau County Office of Child Support Enforcement can work with you to: Locate a non-custodial parent; Establish parentage for a child; Obtain a support order from court for a child, including a provision for health care coverage; Enforce unpaid child support; Review your support order for an increased support order based on a cost of living adjustment; and/or Modify your child support order based on changes in circumstances. The above services can be applied to orders originating in other states and reciprocal countries. Services are open to persons age 16 and older. Written Learner Permit Tests and CDL written tests are given up to one-half hour before closing. Provides a state-wide Child Support Enforcement Helpline to obtain information about their child's support cases and the services offered. If a caller needs information that is specific to a county, then the caller is given the appropriate person and number to call at the county level.

Handles PINS petitions, support cases, respondent representation on paternity suits, orders of protection, visitation, voluntary surrender of children.

Provides a service, in collaboration with 2 other agencies (My Sisters' Place and Westchester Hispanic Coalition) to offer free legal services for poverty level residents or those who are victims of domestic violence for consumer disputes, housing, education, benefits, domestic violence, orders of protection, custody, child support, family law, including citizenship applications, work authorizations or other immigration issues.

Provides assistance in locating absent parents, filing petitions, establishing paternity and child support in Family Court, enforcement and collection of child support orders, issuing checks, legal representation on all public assistance cases and other eligible cases.

Locates absent parents, establishes legal paternity for children born outside marriage, establishes/enforces child support orders and monitors collection and disbursement of child support payments. Public Assistance recipients are automatically referred by their worker. Call for more detailed information.

Provides the services and support for a parent who has custody of a child and whose ex-spouse is not keeping up child support payments. Services include child support establishment and collection, family support, legal services, and paternity establishment.

Provides a state-wide Child Support Enforcement Helpline to obtain information about their child's support cases and the services offered. If a caller needs information that is specific to a county, then the caller is given the appropriate person and number to call at the county level.

Assists those parents who need help to attain child support monies from the parent who has become delinquent in their child support payments.

Suffolk Drug Court Expansion provides Suffolk TASC with a Clinical Coordinator/Psychiatric Social Worker, two Case Managers, and a Vocational Counselor to expand services for individuals. As a team, they assess participants, determine the level of care needed, place them in appropriate treatment agencies, and monitor the individuals as they move through drug treatment services towards successful completion of all mandated programs.

Pro bono attorneys and law students provide consultation and advice in child support matters. Representation in court is not provided.
