Provides a 24 hour Emergency Communications system to keep military personnel in touch with families during family emergencies, such as illness, death, births and provides military personnel and their commanders the information needed to enable emergency leave, compassionate reassignment, and dependency discharge. Provides quality service and advocacy for New York State veterans, armed forces members, their dependents and survivors, ensuring they receive benefits granted by law for their service to New York and the nation. Provides a veterans caseworker who can help connect you to what you are entitled to as a veteran, regardless of age, branch of service or time served.

Assists military personnel, who have returned from active duty, to apply for benefits which they may need, or to help them find services.

Provides a food pantry for Veterans, the Military and their families, and families in need. LI Cares hosts Military Appreciation Tuesdays in Huntington Station, Lindenhurst, and Freeport which gives veterans and their families access to food, personal care items, household products, pet food, and school supplies. Also veterans are provided with information and resources pertaining to veteran special benefits. LI Cares also operates a Mobile Pantry which delivers nutritious groceries to homebound, disabled veterans unable to access their local pantries.

Provides a myriad of supportive services to very low-income Veteran families who are residing in permanent housing, are homeless and scheduled to become residents of permanent housing within a specified time period, or after exiting permanent housing, are seeking other housing that is responsive to such very low-income veteran family's needs and preferences. Support services include personal financial planning services, income support services, legal services, housing search and counseling, vocational and rehabilitation services through the New York State Department of Labor, employment training through the Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center, outreach services, peer support, case management services, assistance obtaining VA benefits and other public benefits.

Membership is restricted to the combat wounded, but MOPH provides support to all veterans and their dependents throughout the United States. They help to create jobs, offer scholarships, and maintain continuous liaison with Congress on issues related to veterans. Meetings held 3rd Thursday of month at 8pm.
