Assists and advises debtors in representing themselves in court and filing all the necessary court paperwork related to debt. Program can help people who may have collections issues, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts, debt court cases or judgments related to credit card debts, medical debts, student loans, car loans, utilities collections, lines of credit, charge accounts, and foreclosures.

Provides EISEP Case Management, Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERs), In-Home Contact and Support, Health Insurance Information Counseling Assistance Program (HIICAP), Home Delivered Meals (HDM), Congregate Meals, Nutrition Counseling, Nutrition Education, Information and Assistance, NY Connects Options Counseling, Afternoon Trips and Transportation, and Senior Center Recreation and Education. Has a contract with the Center for Elder Law & Justice for Legal Assistance.

Provides legal consultation by phone once per month for callers seeking consumer debt legal assistance. Calls received by 211 WNY pertaining to issues within CLARO's scope will be live transferred to CLARO Attorneys. Attorneys will offer legal advice and information about issues related to: - Credit reporting - Consumer debt collections - Lawsuits from creditors - Judgment garnishments

A Legal Services Program funded by the Dutchess County Office for the Aging is designed to provide legal advice to Dutchess County residents age 60 and over.

Program provides pro bono legal services to senior citizens, age 60+, residing in Suffolk County. Services are not income-based, although there is an effort to serve the needy, low-income and underserved populations. Under the supervision of the Senior Staff Attorney and the Staff Attorney, the SCLP handles several types of cases. These include Landlord-Tenant, Section 8 and subsidized housing matters, preparation of Powers of Attorney/Health Care Proxies/Living Wills, Medicaid applications and Pooled Trust applications. The SCLP also provides representation at Medicaid Fair hearings, in Town Zoning Violations matters, and in Small Claims Court cases. Representation is provided by upper-level law students, working under the close supervision of experienced lawyers who are clinical professors. There is no charge for clinic representation. However, the clinics have limited resources and cannot take every case, no matter how deserving. Clinic staff members meet with potential clients by appointment only. * LAC provides free legal services to eligible New York residents who need help related to:

• Discrimination because of a criminal record. Includes assistance finding and correcting mistakes on rap sheets and commercial background checks, certificates of rehabilitation, filing employment discrimination complaints, gathering evidence of rehabilitation, and more.
• Discrimination because of an alcohol/drug history. Includes assistance for individuals who have who face discrimination for participating in medication-assisted treatment or medication, such as methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone), or naltrexone (Vivitrol), to treat their opiate addiction.
• Discrimination for people living with HIV/AIDS. Includes breach of HIV confidentiality or testing rights. Also helps with problems such as health care proxies, living wills, and permanency planning.

Provides legal information and referral to professional staff of community agencies in Nassau and Suffolk as a support service for lay advocates, Offers telephone consultation with a paralegal or attorney who provide guidance on a wide range of legal issues including welfare, social security, child support, housing, consumer debt, etc. Publishes newsletter and offers advocate training sessions in Nassau and Suffolk to educate professionals and clients on legal issues.

Offers free legal services for non-profit agencies who serve the local community regarding business legal matters, legal questions, legal publications and model documents, etc. Also offers workshops on specific topics for nonprofit agencies, electronic newsletter info, etc.

Provides advice, brief service, and referrals to veterans or active military. Services provided by other Veterans.

Provide legal representation to low income residents who are ineligible for representation by local, federally-funded legal services programs because of alien status or other restrictions. Offers representation in civil legal matters including housing, immigration, public assistance and discrimination.

Provides legal counsel, vocational guidance and placement, social activities, liaison with outside groups, Amp-to-Amp Program, referral lists, and offers a donated medical equipment giveaway program to anyone in need in the local area. Provides Newsletter and Agency brochure to members.
