Focuses on four key area: diminishing role of race in the criminal justice system. increasing fairness and African-American participation in all aspects of economic life. increasing equity in education and eliminating tolerance for schools that fail students. achieving full African-American civic engagement and participation in the democratic process.

Provides advocacy to low-income consumers with utility issues and assists with getting help for common problems like denials of service, shutoffs, billing and service quality complaints, improving affordability through low income rates and energy efficiency programs, and receiving assistance to pay utility bills.No Financial Assistance

Provides direction for service provision to persons with chronic mentally illness. Involved in identifying service gaps/barriers and in responding through program development, facilitation of inter-organizational working relationships, and support of advocacy efforts to improve quality of lives of persons with chronic mental illness.

Works in communities throughout the state to: improve health care provide quality education and after-school programs advocate for fair pay lobby for Social Security and a federal budget reflecting the group's values and priorities and encourage election reform

Provides a protection and advocacy system for individuals and their families with chronic diseases or developmental and other disabilities. Offers legal assistance of issues including: disability, Medicaid and other insurance, permanency planning, and housing.

A council that provides a strong voice for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families on a local level, working with and through the Developmental Disabilities Service Office to plan, develop and monitor family support services.

Assists participants of NYS Long Term Care (MLTC) Fully Integrated Duals Advantage (FIDA) and Long Term Support Services (LISS) in managed care programs. Services include training and education, information and advice to caregivers and advocates, advocacy, and legal representation.

Works toward the goals of countering and reducing hatred by fighting Anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry here and abroad, combating international terrorism, probing the roots of hatred, advocating before congress, aiding victims of bigotry, developing educational programs, and serving as a public resource for government, media, law enforcement, and the general public.

Professional staff and trained volunteers monitor permanency plans for foster children and families involved in family court system. Cases assigned by Family Court Judges as needed.

Advocates for quality, affordable and accessible child care in legislation and public policy for children and families. The Council collaborated and works with other child care organizations and community groups, school, etc. to education about and support high-quality child care.

Provides a dynamic group of student activists from Nassau and Suffolk counties that evaluates, directs and implements programs and services to create safer and more supportive schools for LGBT students and their allies.

Advocates for the legal rights and the change of legislation regarding issues which impact the poor immigrants in New York state, and find just cause when local or county government is not correcting a problem.

BIA of NYS provides understanding and prevention of brain injury through education, advocacy, research grants, and community support services. Provides a Family Help-Line and Resource Center for individuals with brain injury. Educates the public through media campaigns, and publications. Conducts educational conferences, seminars, and training programs designed for medical professionals, trial lawyers, family members and persons with brain injury. Call for more information.
