Discrimination because of an alcohol/drug history. Includes assistance for individuals who have who face discrimination for participating in medication-assisted treatment or medication, such as methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone), or naltrexone (Vivitrol), to treat their opiate addiction. Discrimination for people living with HIV/AIDS. Includes breach of HIV confidentiality or testing rights. Also helps with problems such as health care proxies, living wills, and permanency planning.

Provides a variety of services for people with disabilities in an effort to gain independence. Services include individual advocacy, peer counseling, systems advocacy, benefits planning assistance, education and employment support, ADA consultations, housing search assistance, and media resources.

Enables emergency communication between military personnel and their families. Provides preparedness information for service members families. Advocates for veterans with the VA.

Offers patient advocacy and support in various ways, depending on the the needs of each patient who requires a bone marrow or stem cell transplant.

Works to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgendered and people with HIV or AIDS through impact litigation, education and public policy work. Pursues litigation in areas such as: housing, public accommodations, military, public policy, parenting and relationship issues, equal marriage rights, equal employment and domestic partnership benefits, and immigration issues.

Provides legal advocacy including information, referrals or accompaniment to: Family Court, Criminal Court, Domestic Violence Court, Sex Offense Court, Integrated Domestic Violence Court, police, probation department and District Attorney's office. Petitions and accompaniment for orders of protection. Also provides assistance to victims and family members who are entitled to compensation through the New York State Crime Victims Board. Provides comprehensive Medicaid case management for individuals, children and adults, who have an IQ of 70 or below. Provides home and community based waiver service. Individuals must be Medicaid eligible.

Offers free legal advice and direct representation to veterans in civil (non-criminal)legal matters, such as housing issues, eviction, foreclosure prevention, denied benefits, consumer protection, child support assistance, etc.

Offers information and referrals to resources which may be needed for older adults in the community. Also provides support and guidance with questions or help if a senior is having difficulty with benefits, acquiring help for home maintenance, or problems with other issues.

Provides residents of adult homes with legal and non legal advocacy services as well as training in issues which include the rights of adult home residents, rights of persons receiving services from mental health agencies and self-advocacy.
