* Provides peer support for people with disabilities.* Offers an employment program to help people with disabilities increase their employability.* Offers benefits advisement by providing information and advocacy while navigating government health and human service systems.* Offers healthcare advocacy by providing information and assistance with regard to Medicaid, Medicare, Medicaid Managed Care, and Medicaid Funded Services.* Works in conjunction with NY Connects in Monroe, Ontario, Yates, and Wayne County, to inform, assist, and advocate for individuals, caregivers, and family members, seeking community-based long-term services and supports.* Provides housing advocacy by offering information and advocacy on affordable and/or subsidized housing, rental listings, accessibility, home renovations, and home ownership.* Offers peer support groups and services for persons with disabilities.* Provides referrals for equipment loan.* Provides education, assistance to and advocacy for disabled persons wishing to vote.* Provides independent living skills to assist with daily living activities, such as; money and medication management, nutrition, legal rights, socialization, and mobility.* Provides community outreach and education through workshops, classes and other activities to promote awareness of needs of persons with disabilities, and understanding of independent living.

Supervises all adults placed on probation by the Criminal Courts of Broome County, as well as cases transferred into Broome County from other jurisdictions.

Provides an intensive, family focused, home, and community-based alternative to foster care placement or institutional for at-risk youth ages 11 to 17 years.

A Person in Need of Supervision (PINS) is a person under the age of 18 who is incorrigible, ungovernable, or habitually disobedient and is beyond the lawful control of his or her parent or guardian.

Provides PINS Diversion services to families where youth are at risk of PINS petition and, when appropriate, assists with filing of PINS petitions. Services to adults 18+ yrs unable to care for themselves includes investigation, coordination of services, financial management, arranging for support systems, alternative placement, and access to medical care, legal services and benefits.

Information regarding underaged gambling, the signs of problem gambling and information about resources for those affected by problem gambling provided through presentations to community groups, health and human service providers, businesses, schools and colleges. You(th) Decide NY - empowers teenaged youth to learn about the dangers of underage Gambling and to share that knowledge with their peers, parents, and communities.

Presides over all county court cases

Provides an intervention program for families of youth displaying violent and/or aggressive behavior.

Designated jurisdiction over both civil and criminal cases within Tioga County

Offers alternatives to detention and state incarceration, supports youth post-adjudication to help with compliance and other needs, and provides reintegration support for youth transitioning out of these placements.

Educates youth about their legal rights, increase their decision-making skills, teach them how to interact responsibly with police and other authority figures, and offer advice about how to stay safe when confronted with law enforcement.

Community education program offering parenting and substance abuse prevention skills.

A program to help minority, at risk male youth, to change their behavior and guide them to make better choices, through police partnership training, community involvement and working to build trust, life skills and knowledge so that they have an opportunity for success.

Offers a temporary home for 11 to 18 year old children who are court mandated. Provides a school program, individual counseling, and group dynamics. The Our Lady of Peace Academy is a free standing alternative school for grades 7 through 12. Individualized instruction and private tutoring is provided by qualified teachers.

Provides supervision of juveniles and adults who have been sentenced to probation including electronic monitoring and overseeing restitution payments. Offers juvenile diversion counseling and programming. The department also prepares pre-sentence investigations/reports for criminal and family courts as ordered by the courts.

Works to preserve the safety of the citizens and reintegration of offenders back into the community including an intake diversion unit , adult sex offender treatment program, juvenile sex offender treatment program, juvenile arson prevention program (the youth fire program), pretrial release, community service, adult intensive supervision, electronic home monitoring, local conditional release, juvenile intensive supervision, and juvenile community service.

The County Department(s) of Probation and Corrections work to preserve the safety of the citizens and reintegration of offenders back into the community.

Offers diversion services to prevent juvenile offenders from being sent to Family Court. Youth are referred from schools, parents, law enforcement agencies and other community agencies. This is a voluntary program. Both the parents and youth must agree to participate. Youth must be deemed truant, incorrigible or runaways.

Provides in-home education and support to parents with children at-risk of out-of-home placement because of neglect or abuse. Staff visits family in their homes, providing individualized instruction tailored to the parents strengths and needs such as providing a safe and healthy environment for their child or children, child development and parenting skills, conflict management strategies, goal-setting, and accessing community resources.

Opens the doors for thousands of students to take an in-depth tour of both our Riverhead and Yaphank Correctional Facilities. The tours give a realistic, first-hand glimpse into the inner workings of our correctional facilities and what a daily life as a correction officer and justice-involved individuals looks like. YES Tours are a great fit for criminal justice classes or students interested in pursuing a career in the criminal justice field. Tours are open for Public and private schools throughout Suffolk County. Schools must apply on a lottery basis for the tours in the beginning of the school year. Call for more detailed information.

Presents a program that is an evidence-based curriculum offered in many states throughout the nation. The classroom curriculum is taught by Suffolk County Deputy Sheriffs and Correction Officers who received specialized training to present to elementary and middle school students. Prevention as its primary objective, the program aims to prevent bullying, youth crime, violence, drug use, and gang involvement while promoting a positive relationship among law enforcement, families, and our youth. G.R.E.A.T. Lessons focus on life skills designed to help students avoid using delinquent behavior and violence to solve problems, and further helps them make positive choices in life.
