A multi-disciplinary program responding to reports of physical and sexual child abuse. Criminal justice, medical, and mental health services are coordinated on site. Prosecutors, police officers, social services workers, therapists, victim advocates, and medical professionals work together to investigate allegations and to reduce trauma for children reported as victims of sexual or physical abuse. Provides a child-friendly environment for interviews and medical examinations. Also provides community education and professional training on issues related to child abuse and family violence.

* Provides students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus, and/or at a school function. Every school in New York State has a designated DASA coordinator to ensure dignity for all students

Provides in home social work services to families identified as having children, ages birth to 18 years, at risk of foster care placement or who are already in placement with the need for reunification or alternative permanency planning.

Services include in-home counseling, advocacy, supervised visitation, permanency planning assessment, education and support groups, collaboration, case management, and information and referral.

Offers a variety of anti-bullying awareness programs which may be combined with our signature prevention programming or offered as individual curriculums.

* Provides assistance for those involved with Criminal and Family Courts, as well as referrals to counseling programs.

Provides an Extended School Day and School Violence Prevention program. Weekly clubs offer literacy activities through hands-on programming. School Violence Prevention provides crisis-intervention counseling and support groups to target protective assets and risk factors.

Engages residents, private industry, and community-based organizations in reducing and preventing shootings and violence. Outreach workers serve as peer mentors for a caseload of high-risk individuals who they work with on a regular basis to reach potential perpetrators, identify the core reasons for gun violence, and assist them to obtain needed services such as job training and drug abuse counseling. A project of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Presents a series of workshops that motivate, educate and empower both adults and youth on the importance of reducing gang violence. Focuses on topics such as prevention/intervention, perils of gang life, decision making and gang awareness among others. Presents workshops for groups, schools and organizations. Offers courses required by The New York State Education Department for all applicants for teacher and administrator certifications and students enrolled in teacher/administrator preparation programs. The following workshops are offered: Identifying and Reporting Suspected Child Abuse; Prevention and Intervention of School Violence (SAVE); Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) and Autism Workshop. These workshops are available to Stony Brook University and non-Stony Brook University students. If you are not a Stony Brook University student, please consult with your school's teacher certification advisor or the NYSED website for specific certification requirements prior to enrolling in a workshop. Offers information on a variety of crime prevention issues, programs or services, from public awareness, protection, and possible ways to prevent crime, etc. Also provides a helpline for those who have been crime victims.

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program is an advocate and resource for persons who reside in long-term care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted living facilities and adult homes. They protect patient rights, work to improve residents' quality of life and advocate for change. Volunteers are trained to work as resident advocates, who in turn work with residents, family members and facility staff.

Advocates for increased community awareness of the problem of child abuse and neglect develops improved access to information resources on child protection issues, provides training resources in the field of child protection offers a variety of professional publications offers professional expertise in evaluation, consultation and technical assistance to public and private child protection agencies.

Offers education for k-12 school children, teachers, and parents. Teaches children about their rights to be safe, strong, and free. Successful strategies for personal safety demonstrated using simple role-plays, regarding bullying, internet safety internet safety, stranger danger, and known perpetrators. Can provide education that fulfills NYS Erin's Law Requirements

Provides Safe Child cards which contains identifying information about the child which is then stored in a statewide database. This information can be used to quickly provide important details to police agencies investigating child disappearances.

Provides educational services for violence/bully prevention and intervention services for school attendance issues.

Encourages male-identified adults and youth to work as allies with female-identified adults and youth to prevent domestic and sexual violence and create healthy relationships.

Protects and serves several hamlets and incorporated villages within the Town of Brookhaven (North). The 6th Precinct collaborates with numerous community and civic groups within our precinct through our COPE Unit, Community Liaison Officer, and our monthly community meetings. Through this community-oriented/law enforcement approach we seek to maintain the safety and quality of life of our residents. Teaches students how to look for warning signs, signals, and threats, especially in social media, of an individual who may be a threat to themselves or others and to say something to a trusted adult to get help. We want to teach students to understand and recognize warning signs and threats, how to act immediately, take it seriously, understand strategies to take action, and overcome potential barriers to being an “upstander” rather than a “bystander." Provides individual and group counseling to women or men 60 years or older who are victims of physical/emotional abuse, neglect, financial or sexual abuse. Services offered at VIBS or in-home. Assists victims with court and law enforcement advocacy, provides case management and offers community education programs.
