Offers prevention based programs and services in an individual or group setting to local school districts. Programming includes, behavior management, attendance issues, bullying prevention and intervention, mentoring, peer mediation, aggression reduction, drug and alcohol prevention, leadership, and resiliency skill building.

Prevention and intervention programs dealing with substance abuse, bullying, and violence includes counseling for students and support for parents.

The Anti-Bullying Initiative is designed to raise awareness, prevent and reduce bullying. It provides youth with opportunities to learn about bullying and how to respond to prevent and decrease bullying in their schools.

Engages residents, private industry, and community-based organizations in reducing and preventing shootings and violence. Outreach workers serve as peer mentors for a caseload of high-risk individuals who they work with on a regular basis to reach potential perpetrators, identify the core reasons for gun violence, and assist them to obtain needed services such as job training and drug abuse counseling. A project of the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

TRIAD sponsors crime prevention and safety programs for senior citizens, while providing a forum for law enforcement and the community to share the needs and concerns of senior citizens. It strives to develop solutions to reduce criminal victimization, improve the quality of life and enhance the delivery of services and programs for seniors in Sullivan County.

This is a collaboration of residents and police to look for neighbors, and inform police of unusual or suspicious activity.

Offers information on a variety of crime prevention issues, programs or services, from public awareness, protection, and possible ways to prevent crime, etc. Also provides a helpline for those who have been crime victims.

Maintains and promotes community relations with the local community leaders, and implements community crime watches inorder to combat home or business burglaries, auto or bicycle theft, and to keep an eye on neighbors who may not be picking up mail, newspapers, etc.

Provides a puppet performances for pre-K school children that promotes mental health, prevent substance abuse, address gang involvement and teach conflict resolution.

Provides patrol and other police services to the southern portion of Brookhaven Town, the eastern portion of Islip Town, and the incorporated villages of Patchogue and Bellport. The 5th Precinct hosts open community meetings. The COPE Unit is tasked with addressing various community concerns, including traffic complaints and quality of life issues. COPE officers and the CLO regularly communicate with local community groups and attend local community meetings to spread public safety news and messages. Provides one of the most vital units throughout the Sheriff’s office. Throughout the year, Community Relations Unit visits each Suffolk County School District as well as multiple clubs and various organizations. Its main goal is to bridge the gap between Law Enforcement and the members of the Community.
