Erie County Sheriff's Office - Police Services Division

Responsible for law enforcement duties, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, and service to the citizens of Erie County. In addition to headquarters at the Public Safety Building at 45 Elm Street, Buffalo, the Sheriff's Office maintains substations in the towns of Grand Island, Clarence, Elma, Colden, and Collins, along with the Villages of Springville and North Collins. In addition to the familiar red and white patrols of the county, many unique services are provided, including: - Road Patrol - Traffic Bureau Crash Investigation Unit - County Building "Rath" Patrol Unit - Domestic Violence Unit (see separate listing)

LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES | SULLIVAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

Sheriffs office providing a correctional facility, crime victim services and other law enforcement information. Victim hotline provides information about an offender's jail or prison status in the State of New York, or if that offender has been released. A victim can also leave a contact number to be notified when an offender is released, transferred, or escapes.

LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES | DUTCHESS COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT

Responsible for enforcing laws and regulations, preventing crime, investigating criminal activity, apprehending, arresting and detaining suspects, preventing and suppressing delinquency and engaging in other activities that protect lives and property and preserve peace in the community.

COUNTY SHERIFF | YAPHANK CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Works to serve and protect our residents through innovative programs to reduce inmate recidivism, by promoting sound fiscal policies and by working cooperatively with law enforcement and community groups throughout the county to improve safety in our jails and our neighborhoods. The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office: Operates the two Suffolk County correctional facilities (in Yaphank and Riverhead), provides county courthouse security and detention; Is responsible for patrolling and investigating all crimes committed on the county-owned property such as county government office buildings and plays a leading law enforcement role in the Long Island Pine Barrens; Has a Countywide DWI Enforcement Team which consists of Drug Recognition Experts (D.R.E.) and is funded by the STOP-DWI program; Issues pistol permits for the five East End towns of Suffolk County through its Pistol License Bureau; Has an Emergency Management Section: the Sheriff and the County Executive are the two County Officials with a broad range of authority in declaring a State of Emergency; Operates a Domestic Violence Bureau; Enforces the Orders of Protection; they arrest individuals charged with violating Orders of Protection and those with Family Offense related warrants; they provide victims with a safe refuge by removing batterers from the home, seizing weapons and executing all arrest warrants against the perpetrators of domestic violence; they have several specialized sections, including K-9, Marine Patrol, Dive Team, Mountain Bike Unit, ATV Unit, the Sheriff's Emergency Response Team (SERT), Honor Guard, Air Support Unit, Grants Bureau, tactical entry weapons team and sniper section; and Is the Downstate New York Coordinator for Project Lifesaver International. Project Lifesaver is a Countywide Emergency Locator Service capable of finding those diagnosed with cognitive impairment (Alzheimer's Disease, Dementia, Autism, Down Syndrome, etc.) which may cause them to wander and become lost.

ASCEND PROGRAM | ONEIDA COUNTY SHERIFF

* Provides Assistance for Special, Cognitive, Emotional Needs & Disabilities. Program will allow residents with preexisting mental health concerns, developmental disabilities, health conditions, or religious or cultural considerations to voluntarily submit their information to the county so that law enforcement and fire and EMS personnel are aware of their needs and can provide the proper support and resources. Information volunteered to the ASCEND program is strictly confidential. some of the condition that can be reported are:
  • Anxiety Disorder.
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Bipolar Disorder.
  • Communication, Visual or Hearing Impairments.
  • Dementia.
  • Depressive Disorder.
  • Diabetes.
  • Disruptive Impulse/Conduct Disorder.

  • Electronic Device Dependent (i.e. use of a device to communicate)
  • Hoarding/Household Hazards.
