* Provides constitutionally mandated legal representation in criminal matters to people who cannot afford to pay for their own lawyer. Represents some clients of the office in Family Court cases in which clients are entitled to legal representation.* Handles matters involving felonies, misdemeanors, appeals, parole, probation, vehicle and traffic, and some simple violations of law in Ontario County Court, Geneva, and Canandaigua City Court, Drug Court, and the various Justice Courts in Ontario County. Handles arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Part (CAP) and Youth Part.

Provides legal representation to persons accused of crimes and jailable offenses. Involves every aspect of representation from investigation through trial, to post-judgment proceedings and appeals. Serves Village and Town Justice Courts, Binghamton City Court, Broome County Court, Supreme Court and Appellate Courts.
* Provides legal representation to individuals in Criminal Court, and Family Court proceedings. Advocates for the protection of the constitutional rights of its clients. Contributes to the efficient and effective operation of the criminal justice system in Monroe County where appropriate, advocates and works toward achieving results that have the greatest likelihood to help rehabilitate clients.
Represents Oswego County departments in all legal matters.
* Responsible for the prosecution of all violations of the law that occur within the county's borders. These prosecutions include felonies, misdemeanors, violations, and traffic infractions. * Responsible for handling criminal appeals at all levels of state courts. Ancillary responsibilities of the district attorney include extraditing criminals from outside the state, prosecuting forfeiture proceedings and working with victims of crime to help them secure the fullest measure of redress allowed by law.
