Purpose is to avoid unnecessary criminalization of mental illness and extended incarceration among Veterans by ensuring that eligible Veterans in contact with the criminal justice system have access to Veterans Health Administration mental health and substance abuse services. Outreach to local jails, law enforcement, and courts. Identifies Veterans involved in the criminal justice system. Supports available to these Veterans include: determining Veterans Health Administration eligibility; linkage, monitoring, and reporting for behavioral health programs; guidance in addressing outstanding warrants; linkage to family and child support services advocacy; assist with applying for service connected benefits; linkage to services available in the community outside of the VA system. ##Veteran## ##REENTRY##
