The Clinic defends clients in need of motions to reopen prior removal orders, facing false gang allegations, seeking release on bond, and victims of trafficking seeking relief. The clinic provides legal screenings for relief, responds to ICE raids, represents clients detained in ICE jails, litigates in immigration court (such as master calendar, bond, and individual hearings), administrative advocacy with USCIS and at asylum interviews, and appellate litigation before the Board of Immigration Appeals and in Federal Court. Also provide Impact litigation. We challenge policies and practices that harm the immigrant community on Long Island and in New York. In addition we provide Community advocacy. We advocate for human, civil, and constitutional rights for immigrant communities on Long Island and in New York through collaborations with legal service providers, legal trainings, professional development, legislative and administrative advocacy, and community organizing. Alternative Sentencing is a program through which offenders are diverted to perform community service as the result of a nonviolent criminal conviction. The objectives of the program are to reduce reliance on unnecessary incarceration in a manner consistent with public safety, provide a means of punishment to an offender and a means of restitution to the community, increase sentencing options to all criminal courts in Ulster County, foster the development of employment, vocational, and life skills as a way of improving situations which might otherwise contribute to criminal activity, encourage and implement integration between offender and community in the process of reducing dysfunction, and to forward the cause of alternative sanctions.

Offers home and/or school visits on a weekly basis. Services include, but are not limited to, anger management, school advocacy, life skills coaching, communication skills, job assistance, self -esteem, self-awareness and parent education.
