Full service police department answering all calls for service relating to public safety in the Village of Albion and surrounding areas. This department is part of Troop A.

Erie County's ATUPA (Adolescent Tobacco Use Prevention Act) Program is part of a comprehensive state wide enforcement program designed to reduce the prevalence of tobacco use, and to attempt to prevent tobacco access to youth less than 18 years of age. The program coordinator maintains an up to date listing of registered and unregistered tobacco retail dealers and vendors (including cigarette vending machines) within the County. All facilities are visited yearly by program personnel to verify that they are properly registered with the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance to sell tobacco products; that proper signage regarding the sale of tobacco products to minors is conspicuously posted; and that tobacco products are properly and safely stored to prevent access to unauthorized individuals. Additionally, at least one compliance check per year with underage youth is done at each facility where tobacco products are available for sale, to verify that such products are not being sold to minors.

Determines eligibility for and administers financial assistance in the form of Medicaid, Food Stamps/SNAP, Public Assistance, Emergency Assistance, and assistance with burials; see separate listing for HEAP. Provides Welfare Fraud Hotline and places great emphasis on identifying fraudulent applications both prior to and during case opening. Also assigns activities to clients that will assist them in locating employment to end or decrease their need for assistance.

Provides emergency financial assistance, domestic violence offenders program, counseling, parent and child counseling services, kinship caregiver program, care coordination, food and clothing assistance, Multisystemic Therapy (MST), and referrals as needed.

Offers youthful offender prevention program, Project YES (Youth Engaged In Service), and Kids' Clothes Closet. Acts as collaborative partner to the Hamburg Family Support Center. Also a member of the WNY Holiday Partnership which provides toys and gifts to low income families for the winter holidays.

Provides free legal advice and representation to low-income individuals who have opened or intend to open a business.

A trauma informed clinic that offers outpatient assessment, counseling, and psychiatric services for children and adults. Provides support in addressing issues including trauma, depression, anger management difficulties, school difficulties, attachment disorders, anxiety, mood disorders, self-abuse, suicidal thoughts and actions, grief and loss, and oppositional defiant behaviors. Child and Family Services Counseling addresses the mental health needs of individuals and families with expertise and empathy. Provides comprehensive treatment in comfortable environments to help clients achieve their personal goals.

Narcotics task force for the Chautauqua County area. A coordinated effort by multiple law enforcement agencies to investigate narcotics crimes at the local and federal levels. By combining investigative efforts, the Task Force attempts to identify and then make positive prosecutable cases against narcotics traffickers. Provides a tip line for reporting illegal narcotics activity / drug crimes.

Provides motor vehicle and other driver services such as: renewals for operator and motorcycle licenses, permits, and non-driver ID cards; amendments to all types of licenses, permits and non-driver ID cards; conversion of out-of state licenses to NY; renewals of registrations; new plates for passenger and commercial vehicles, trailers, and motorcycles; amendments to registrations for all vehicle types; plate transfers from one vehicle to another for all vehicle types; plate surrenders; and enforcement matters including DWI, child support payments and insurance lapses. Provides information to the public, law enforcement agencies, businesses and other entities about individuals required to register as sex offenders in New York State. Maintains an online directory of individuals determined to have a Level 2 or 3 risk of re-offense. The state’s NY-ALERT system can provide notifications whenever a Level 2 or Level 3 sex offender listed in the online directory moves.

Provides independent living skills, information and referral, advocacy, peer counseling, transitional services, benefits and entitlements advisement, educational advocacy, nursing home transition into the community, individual support services, Olmsted housing subsidies, and support groups for people with disabilities. Transportation available. Loan closet provides free, gently used medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, shower benches, raised toilet seats, portable ramps, and more, based on availability.
