Helps consumers to resolve their coverage disputes with health plans and ensures that they are receiving the care that they are entitled to under state law. The helpline aids people claim their benefits when the insurance denies coverage, assist with health care billing and payment problems, obtain their guaranteed health benefits, and investigate when people have lost their insurance coverage.

Advocates for individuals with disabilities for specialized needs or other services, helps with complaints regarding ADA compliance, or discrimination, etc, and refer to agencies which specialize in specific areas of need.

Provides full deportation defense services for clients most at-risk of deportation. The Clinic defends clients in need of motions to reopen prior removal orders, facing false gang allegations, seeking release on bond, and victims of trafficking seeking relief. The clinic provides legal screenings for relief, responds to ICE raids, represents clients detained in ICE jails, litigates in immigration court (such as master calendar, bond, and individual hearings), administrative advocacy with USCIS and at asylum interviews, and appellate litigation before the Board of Immigration Appeals and in Federal Court. Also provide Impact litigation. We challenge policies and practices that harm the immigrant community on Long Island and in New York. In addition we provide Community advocacy. We advocate for human, civil, and constitutional rights for immigrant communities on Long Island and in New York through collaborations with legal service providers, legal trainings, professional development, legislative and administrative advocacy, and community organizing. Offers services of professional registered nurses trained in the examination of survivors of rape/sexual assault. Provides immediate physical, emotional, and forensic care. Victims should report to emergency room at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, Stony Brook Hospital in Stony Brook, Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead, or to local police station and request sexual assault nurse examiner. Does not require police involvement.

Alternative Sentencing is a program through which offenders are diverted to perform community service as the result of a nonviolent criminal conviction. The objectives of the program are to reduce reliance on unnecessary incarceration in a manner consistent with public safety, provide a means of punishment to an offender and a means of restitution to the community, increase sentencing options to all criminal courts in Ulster County, foster the development of employment, vocational, and life skills as a way of improving situations which might otherwise contribute to criminal activity, encourage and implement integration between offender and community in the process of reducing dysfunction, and to forward the cause of alternative sanctions.

Advocates and assist disabled consumers with a variety of needs in order to help them live independently in the community. Advocacy includes, but is not limited to, assistance with benefits, housing, evictions, accessibility issues in the home or in the community, information and referrals, assistance in learning independent living skills, and peer counseling.

Provides assistance to individuals and families regarding health care services, work to promote the optimal delivery of health care, and advocate for continuity of care. Offers an interpreter in the an individual's language to facilitate communication, and connect people with resources available in the community.

Works with youth who have been placed on probation through a parent or school PINS petition and are at risk of being adjudicated to higher level probation or placement in a Division for Youth facility. Offers home and/or school visits on a weekly basis. Services include, but are not limited to, anger management, school advocacy, life skills coaching, communication skills, job assistance, self -esteem, self-awareness and parent education. Offers an award winning 48 hour long educational program which invites Suffolk County residents to receive specialized training given at their Police Academy for the purpose of bringing the Police Department and the community closer together. It opens up the lines of communication and builds trust between the police and the community. The mission of the Academy is to familiarize civilians with the operation, procedures and policies of our Department and better acquaint them with the role of police officers in their community. Classes are held on various topics including Use of Force, Special Patrol (K-9, Aviation, Crime Scene, Emergency Services), Domestic Violence, Homicide Investigations, Bias Crimes, as well as other topics. Additionally, students have the option of riding along with Police Officers from their local precinct for a tour of duty and attending a demonstration at the Police Firearms Range and our experiencing training at our Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (E.V.O.C.). Provides a state-wide Child Support Enforcement Helpline to obtain information about their child's support cases and the services offered. If a caller needs information that is specific to a county, then the caller is given the appropriate person and number to call at the county level.

WIC and SNAP benefit assistance navigation.

Provides benefits and entitlement counseling, long term care planning, information and referral services, and application assistance and advocacy. Community outreach and education regarding various programs and services are also provided and are available to community groups upon request. Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides a Senior Advocate to assist seniors with applications for various entitlements and benefits. Provides a protection and advocacy system for individuals and their families with chronic diseases or developmental and other disabilities. Offers legal assistance of issues including: disability, Medicaid and other insurance, permanency planning, and housing.

Responsible for developing new ways to improve the delivery of supports and services to New Yorkers with developmental disabilities and their families. Focus is on increased opportunities for consumers to become involved in the community, secure education, employment and housing. Comprised of volunteers appointed by the Governor, council meets quarterly to identify and discuss current issues.
