Programs serve as a source of information about ownership, predatory lending, mortgage foreclosure prevention, fair housing, budgeting, handling debt, and credit repair. Provides free legal representation in eight counties of Western New York. The Chautauqua County office offers legal services in the areas of: - Assisted Living - Evictions - Consumer Protection - Elder Abuse Prevention - Foreclosure Prevention - Health Care Advocacy - Housing - Income Maintenance - Substituted Decision Making - Western New York Coalition Pooled Trust Also houses the Elder Advocacy Program, a cross-systems community collaboration to address elder abuse. The Elder Advocacy Program acts as a single point-of-entry for elder abuse survivors, assessing their needs and providing appropriate legal and non-legal services to end abuse and empower survivors.

Offers default mortgage counseling to homeowners with FHA loans, conventional loans, and seeks to assist in maintaining properties to prevent foreclosure through negotiating with lenders for mortgage delinquencies. Does not offer cash assistance. Also perform budget analysis in order to educate individuals and prevent homelessness as well as assist families and/or individuals in their transition to permanent housing. Tracks predatory lending.

Eviction Assistance: Provides help to low income who are qualified for subsidized housing and section 8 choice vouchers. For those who may not be qualified for subsidized/section 8, provide older adults, veterans, domestic violence, LGBQT, breast cancer, or individuals diagnosed with AIDS who may be a target for eviction. Landlord/Tenant Dispute Resolution: Aids individuals struggling with their landlord for reasons ranging from eviction, living conditions, recurring problems, etc. Foreclosure Assistance: helps advocate for individuals with mortgage foreclosure with guidance through the legal process and representation, if needed.

Provides help for homeowners who are either currently in either mortgage or tax foreclosure or for whom foreclosure is imminent. For those facing foreclosure, efforts are coordinated with local housing counseling agencies and banks to address financial and employment issues and to secure mortgage modifications, repayment plans, or forbearances before the initiation of any legal process. For those who have been served, LABB represents homeowners in active foreclosure proceedings.

Assists and advises debtors in representing themselves in court and filing all the necessary court paperwork related to debt. Program can help people who may have collections issues, wage garnishments, frozen bank accounts, debt court cases or judgments related to credit card debts, medical debts, student loans, car loans, utilities collections, lines of credit, charge accounts, and foreclosures.

Provides budget, credit, financial, homebuyer, rental and foreclosure prevention counseling. Support residents with issues regarding homeownership including foreclosure prevention and home maintenance.

Offers shelter placements and assistance with emergency housing needs through the Department of Social Services (DSS) under the auspices of the Nassau County Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD). Eligible individuals and families can, on an emergency, temporary basis be assisted with shelter and other items of need in order to meet their emergency. The goal is to provide families and individuals with the tools they need to secure a permanent, stable housing, and move as quickly as possible to a stable self-sufficient role in the community. In addition DSS offers assistance to a family or individual who is threatened with eviction or foreclosure, assistance may be available to save the current housing. These emergency programs are: Emergency Assistance to Adults; Emergency Assistance to Families and Emergency Safety Net Assistance. These programs were designed to meet one-time non-recurrent emergency situations. These benefits do have specific eligibility requirements, and each case receives the attention of a worker with specialized knowledge in this area. Applications for eligibility should be made at Department of Social Services as soon as the potential problem becomes known. Information, Counseling, and Referrals to persons seeking help to resolve financial problems and manage their money more effectively. In addition, FCA provides housing, foreclosure, reverse mortgage, and property tax exemption. FCA also does income tax preparation for low-income seniors. The Senior Financial Counseling Program also offers financial paper management for seniors who need help organizing their mail and bills, writing out checks.

Offers phone and personal one-on-one counseling to help homeowners keep their homes, establish financial stability, and learn strategies to avoid foreclosure proceedings in the future.

Provides a program designed to help homeowners remain in their homes by preventing and/or delaying foreclosure. Cases covered include mortgage foreclosure, tax foreclosures, and tenants being evicted due to foreclosure.

Emergency Housing Provides comprehensive services to at-risk and homeless households to promote retention and maintenance of safe, affordable housing, access to support services and provides case management.Housing Services Provides housing education, counseling, and budgeting guidance for renters, homeowners and potential homeowners.Transitional Housing Provides supports and financial assistance to victims who have become homeless as a result of fleeing an abusive situation.

Provides supports and raising awareness for community families through one-on-one advocacy, and support, goal setting, budget development and individual attention as well as larger community presentations, increased access to services, and referrals to appropriate community resources.
