Accepts license applications for individuals seeking to operate a Family-Type Home residence under the Foster Care Program for Adults. Family-Type Homes are operated by individuals within their own home, and are subject to inspection & oversight by DSS. Accepts/makes referrals for individuals interested in placement to a Family-Type Home. Family-Type Homes provide care for individuals who do not require medical or skilled nursing, but who may require room, board, and certain personal care services such as laundry and housekeeping.

Catholic Charities operates group homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities that encourage each resident to grow in their functioning and to participate in their communities. As able, residents participate in day programs and workshops, engage in social and recreational activities in the community, have household chores, and run errands. Some even maintain competitive employment. Homes and apartments are located throughout Chemung and Schuyler counties. All residential options are designed to be family-like in all-male, all-female, or co-ed settings. Direct Support Professionals are on-site 24-hours-a-day to assist with cooking, housekeeping, and daily life skills. The supportive apartment program supplements the needs of people who are living on their own, but who may need periodic financial and staff supports to retain their independent living. Also offers a respite program to families who are responsible for the daily care of a loved one with a developmental disability and need relief.
