Assists those individuals who have been chronically homeless due to disability with a permanent supportive housing program. Clients live in their own apartment and receive supportive case management services that enable them to live productive lives while maintaining permanent housing.

Permanent residential facilities in Rockland and Westchester counties for people who are developmentally disabled and unable to remain at home. Offers physical, speech and recreational therapies, along with other special needs services.

Residents of the Apartment Treatment Program generally require less staff support than in the Supported Housing Program. Staff visits vary depending on the needs of residents. Usually, counselors visit residents 3- 5 times per week. However, visits can be increased should residents need additional support. All residents have 24-hour telephone access to staff in the event of an emergency. The Apartment Treatment Program provides residents with the opportunity to live independently, yet still have the benefit of frequent staff support. Residents work on areas needed for independent living such as, symptom and medication management, accessing community resources, and budgeting. The Apartment Treatment locations are situated throughout Suffolk County, Long Island, NY. All provide easy access to public transportation, stores, recreational facilities, and services. All apartments are private homes, which provide individual bedrooms to residents.

Federation of organizations offers over 750 permanent, safe and affordable residential placements in our supportive scattered-site Housing program. In this program, individuals with disabilities live in apartments or houses throughout Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx. We provide specialized supportive scattered-site housing placements that target vulnerable populations such as veterans, shelter-homeless individuals transitioning out of adult homes, state psychiatric centers, prisons and local hospitals. Behavioral Health Services North, Inc. owns and operates “Shannon’s House” which is comprised of four apartments in a complex within the City of Plattsburgh. This program offers single, homeless individuals recovering from mental illness, safe, affordable, permanent housing. Recipients may be eligible to receive Helping Hands Housing financial and support services while participating in the program.
