Aids individuals who have a Section 8 certificate or who have progressed through SFC's system of care, by assisting in the process of choosing an apartment, facilitating the lease, and maintaining their independence within the community. Weekly in-home and phone support are provided based on choice and individual needs. Monthly support groups and recreational/social activities also provided.

Maintains 910 units of low income housing for seniors and the disabled, including 58 family units at 11 locations throughout the township. It also maintains 50 Section 8 housing vouchers for income-qualified renters of privately owned apartments.

Housing is provided for eligible homeless applicants. Hotel vouchers are granted only when the county shelter is full. Collaboration of agencies provide these services (Ex. Catholic Charities, DSS).

Federal rental subsidy program funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Assists low income constituents of the Town of Babylon by paying a portion of their rent allowing them to afford decent and safe housing.

Advocacy, emergency assistance, education and outreach for persons living with AIDS/HIV and their caregivers. Prevention and awareness programs. Support groups. Individual, couple and family counseling. Assistance with obtaining appropriate housing. Assistance in enrollment in AIDS Drug Assistance Program ADAP. Financial assistance in emergency situations.

NYHousingSearch.gov is a FREE public service provided by New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR). The fast, easy-to-use, FREE search lets people look for rental housing using a wide variety of criteria and special mapping features. Housing listings display detailed information about each unit. The service also provides links to housing resources and helpful tools for renters such as an affordability calculator, rental checklist, and information about renter rights and responsibilities.

Assists individuals with searching for housing online and applying for affordable housing and voucher program wait lists. THIS IS NOT A RAPID REHOUSING PROGRAM.

Maintains information about Section 8 properties, along with providing Section 8 vouchers to qualifying individuals and families. NOTE: The waiting list is 1 year+.

Offers Temporary Housing Assistance programs for persons who are homeless or in danger of becoming homeless. Persons should apply for assistance at a Social Services Center.
