Program that is provided for accessibility modifications and emergency home repairs for the primary residence of veterans with disabilities. Eligible veterans may be renters or homeowners, with low and moderate income, with service related injuries or health related disabilities.

We cover 22 counties surrounding Cortland and are the largest provider of accessibility modification services in Upstate NY.ATI assists clients with these types of projects: vehicle modifications wheelchair ramps and lifts accessible porches/decks handrails expanded doorwa roll-in showers with grab bars bathtub grab bars and seats kitchen modifications bedroom relocation adaptations for visual and or hearing impairments accessible storage spaceOther services include: accessibility, assessment and evaluation ADA compliance consultation project planning/management, specifications, cost estimates drafting services construction management inspections and permits funding sources assistance

Utilizes guidelines set forth by ADA to survey homes, businesses or places of employment for barriers to accessibility and provide recommendations for improved access.

A local volunteer organization that, in partnership with the community, rehabilitates the homes of low-income homeowners, particularly the elderly, disabled and families with children so that they may continue to live in warmth, safety and independence. Most work occurs on the last Saturday in April and October each year, however their application process is year-round. The work is completed by volunteers throughout the year.

Grant bringing accessibility modifications to income eligible homes. These modifications allow disabled individuals to return to or remain in their homes. They also assist in obtaining wheelchair ramps.

Home modification refers to adaptations to the home environment to increase ease of use, safety, comfort, security, and independence. Major modifications include ramps, roll-in showers, and lowered countertops. Minor modifications include grab bars, widened doorways, better lighting, hand-held showers, and lever door handles.

Provides Handicap Ramps, Lifts, Adaptions and Modifications to the home that make it easier for the Elderly, Veterans and Disabled Homeowners to remain in their homes including handicap accessible bathrooms and accessible kitchens and other minor adaptations.

Offers credit counseling and financial advise toward the goal of homeownership. Reverse mortgage information available, foreclosure counseling, enolization and other energy programs. Home repair or modification grants for low income elderly or people with disabilities.

Repairs and rehabilitates homes of low income, elderly, families with children and displaced or disabled homeowners by providing free repair services. Also builds wheelchair ramps when needed.

Provides financial assistance for improvements within homes occupied by persons with a disability in order to improve their accessibility. Typical improvements include installation of exterior ramps and bathroom and kitchen modifications.

Provides consultation, project plan development, and cost estimates for projects such as building/repairing ramps, custom-made grab bars, bathroom and kitchen modifications, mounting systems for communication devices, home assessments, adaptations at work sites, and modifications at school.

Lends medical equipment for home use Provides equipment loans to anyone for as long as needed. Provides information on adaptive equipment devices or assistance building wheelchair ramps. Call for information and availability.

Provides free home repairs and accessibility modifications for low-income families, seniors, individuals with a disability, and Veterans.

* Provides peer support for people with disabilities.* Offers an employment program to help people with disabilities increase their employability.* Offers benefits advisement by providing information and advocacy while navigating government health and human service systems.* Offers healthcare advocacy by providing information and assistance with regard to Medicaid, Medicare, Medicaid Managed Care, and Medicaid Funded Services.* Works in conjunction with NY Connects in Monroe, Ontario, Yates, and Wayne County, to inform, assist, and advocate for individuals, caregivers, and family members, seeking community-based long-term services and supports.* Provides housing advocacy by offering information and advocacy on affordable and/or subsidized housing, rental listings, accessibility, home renovations, and home ownership.* Offers peer support groups and services for persons with disabilities.* Provides referrals for equipment loan.* Provides education, assistance to and advocacy for disabled persons wishing to vote.* Provides independent living skills to assist with daily living activities, such as; money and medication management, nutrition, legal rights, socialization, and mobility.* Provides community outreach and education through workshops, classes and other activities to promote awareness of needs of persons with disabilities, and understanding of independent living.

Meets the needs of home-bound individuals while providing youth the opportunity for hands-on learning and community service through the construction of wheelchair ramps.

Provides free loans of assistive technology. Assistive technology is any device that can be used to improve the functional abilities of people with disabilities or short-term injuries. Available items include wheelchairs, walkers, Rollators, canes, crutches, ramps, grab bars, Hoyer lifts, adaptive seating, shower chairs, commodes, wander alarms, weighted items, adaptive utensils, laptops, iPads and deaf and blind/low vision technology. We also have learning aids, toys and games for early intervention, as well as pediatric equipment. Free delivery may be available.

Provides supports and services through the Department of Health Traumatic Brain Injury (DOH-TBI) Waiver Program. The service works in partnership with the individual to secure supports and services that will allow them to live as independently and productively as possible while managing symptoms of TBI or related condition.

The Office for the Aging offers many services for the senior residents of Steuben County including, but not limited to, information and referral, nutrition through congregate meals, advocacy, support groups, transportation services, caregiver services, case management, and the Bone Builders and Senior Meal Programs. Bone Builders and the Senior Dinner Clubs are overseen by Pro Action of Steuben-Yates.

Assists Allegany County homeowners or renters, on Medicaid and with a substantial limitation caused by a disability, with accessibility modifications designed to address the needs of the person living with a disability.

Provides the following services, with some transportation provided: advocacy, benefits/entitlements, developmentally disabled parent training, family reimbursement, guardianship, home care, home modification, independent living skills training, information and referral, parenting skills for parents of developmentally disabled children, residential habilitation, in-home and out-of-home respite care (day, evening, and overnight), service coordination/case management, support groups, and day camps.
