Provides homeless and food emergency after-hours referrals and intervention services. Any Schuyler County residents experiencing homelessness are asked to report to the Sheriff’s Dept. for assistance.
Provides an array of programs to address homelessness in Lewis County. Does not host an emergency shelter. If shelter emergency occurs after business hours, contact the Lewis County Sheriff at 315-376-3511 and they will contact the Department of Social Services worker assigned. Worker will provide an assessment of housing needs and make a referral to an appropriate program within the community.

Social Services promotes self-sufficiency by providing financial and social services to eligible County residents.SNAP recipient households that have lost food purchased with SNAP benefits due to household storm damage or power outages are entitled to a replacement issuance of SNAP benefits for July 2024, provided that the household reports the loss within 10 days of the date of loss, and the household returns a signed and completed form "Request for Replacement of Food Purchased with Food Stamp Benefits," within 10 days of the date of the report of loss. Accepts reports of those abusing public assistance.
