STREET OUTREACH | LONG ISLAND COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS
Provides "on the street" services to Long Island's unsheltered persons in need. Trained members offer crisis intervention and referrals for essential services, including emergency housing. Team members also distribute kits with clothes, non-perishable foods, blankets, and toiletries to individuals living on the street. The team also works with local shelters, businesses, and houses of worship to assist with resources. Please call for more information.

Eligibility
Access to all Emergency Housing for homeless persons requires a referral by a DSS office location/hotline operator. For Nassau County, please call (516)227-8519 or the evening/emergency number at (516)573-8626. For Suffolk County, please call (631)854-9517 or the evening/emergency number at (631)854-9100. If you ineligible for DSS services, please call Long Island Coalition for the Homeless at (631)464-4314 during regular business hours and dial (631)464-4314 ext. 118 to reach the Street Outreach Team for after-hours assistance.

LONG ISLAND COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS
Oversees the funding process for permanent housing programs that are for homeless households on Long Island. The Coalition is the central access point for housing on Long Island for persons that are homeless for the greatest lengths of time and/or have one or more disabling condition. The Coalition can assess all persons presenting as homeless in the region and refer to the best resource available. The Coalition has a homeless hotline to report street homeless persons in need of housing - Dial 631-464-4314 ext. 118 to reach the Street Outreach Team for after-hours assistance.
