In 1868, Albany Memorial Hospital opened its doors as the Albany City Free Dispensary providing care to patients unable to pay. Today, the 165-bed community hospital provides inpatient and outpatient care, as well as ambulatory surgery. This includes the Heart Program for congestive heart failure, Capital Region Diabetes & Endocrine Care, wound care, the Anticoagulation Management Clinic, the Pelvic Health Center and a state-of-the-art emergency department.
