Parent Education/Support

Offers 2 child development classes for parents. Active Parenting Now (Fourth Edition): For parents of children 5 years and older. Class consists of six virtual 2-hour sessions. Program addresses how parents can raise responsible, cooperative children who are prepared to meet the challenges of their teen years, resist negative peer pressure, and thrive in the 21st century. Includes explanation of the workings of the developing child/adolescent brain; handling anger; what parents can do to help their child succeed in school; and the importance of contributing to the family via chores. Parents learn positive, non-violent discipline techniques so they can avoid power struggles. Active Parenting First Five Years: For parents of children birth to 5 years old. Class consists of four virtual 2-hour sessions. Emphasis is placed on school readiness, brain development, brain building activities, mindfulness, and self-calming activities for parent and child.
