WATER QUALITY MONITORING | FRIENDS OF THE BAY
This weekly program monitors the health of the bay and enables trained volunteers to work alongside environmental professionals and former science teachers in order to monitor various components of the marine ecosystem. Call for more information. Program runs April through October.

Open to general public. Serves the community within the watershed surrounding the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor estuary.

FRIENDS OF THE BAY
Preserves, protects and restores the ecological integrity and productivity of the Oyster Bay/Cold Spring Harbor estuary and the surrounding watershed. Works with environmental organizations, local government, business and civic groups for coastal resource education, especially the preservation of Oyster Bay, Cold Spring Harbor and the surrounding upland communities. Conducts weekly open waterbody water quality monitoring at 19 locations to test for parameters that measure the health of the waters in the entire estuary complex. Produces bi-annual newsletter and e-mail updates. Provides speakers.
