HOMELESS RESOURCES | LONG ISLAND COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS
Educates the public about services available to the homeless of Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Provides a hotline for housing referrals, supplies school backpacks and conducts a one day summer camp for homeless children. Provides coordinated applications to HUD for homeless funding and coordinates services to the homeless from more than 60 nonprofit organizations.

Eligibility
Persons that meet the HUD definition of Homeless: Category 1 - Literally Homeless in a place not meant for human habitation or temporary shelter for homeless persons; Category 2 - Imminent risk of Homelessness, residence to be lost within 14 days and no where to go and nor resources; Category 3 - Unaccompanied Youth age 25 and homeless under McKinney-Vento Act; Category 4 - Fleeing or attempting to flee domestic violence with no where to go and no resources. Referral required. Call for appointment.

LONG ISLAND COALITION FOR THE HOMELESS
Oversees the funding process for permanent housing programs that are for homeless households on Long Island. The Coalition is the central access point for housing on Long Island for persons that are homeless for the greatest lengths of time and/or have one or more disabling condition. The Coalition can assess all persons presenting as homeless in the region and refer to the best resource available. The Coalition has a homeless hotline to report street homeless persons in need of housing - Dial 631-464-4314 ext. 118 to reach the Street Outreach Team for after-hours assistance. Also, provides clothing, food and essentials when available. Call for further information.
