COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM | NASSAU COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Offers a federally funded, community based volunteer program that provides training and on-going education to better prepare communities and individuals to respond to emergency/disaster situations. When an emergency/disaster happens, CERT members can provide immediate assistance to their community and give critical support to first responders using a coordinated, collaborative and organized effort. CERT members can also help with non-emergency preparedness projects that can help improve the overall safety and quality of life in their community. Eligibility

CERT training is free for Nassau County residents who are 18 years of age or older. If you are considering joining CERT, please be aware that you must attend all training sessions; missed classes can be made up. A background check will be conducted prior to acceptance into the program.

NASSAU COUNTY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT

Responsibility to coordinate all County emergency response plans. OEM's responsibilities are to identify vulnerabilities, effectively mitigate disasters, public education, respond to all-hazard emergency situations, protect Nassau County's first responders, ensure continuity of government and business, and to facilitate an effective recovery. OEM will coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as private entities to develop, maintain, and implement the Emergency Operations Plan (EOP).
