YOUTH SHELTER PROGRAM | HOPE FOR YOUTH

Provides a safe, supportive and secure environment for all Suffolk County youth between the ages of 12 and 20 who find themselves in crisis and need shelter. The program provides year round support services 24/7 for up to 30 days. Offers case management services, individual and family counseling, transportation, food, clothing, educational assistance and advocacy, medical care coordination and referrals, living skills development and other essential services.

Eligibility

Homeless/runway youth ages 12-20; youth (ages 12-15) may stay up to 72 hours, youth (ages 16-20) may stay up to 30 days. Call for assistance. Access to all Emergency Housing for Homeless Persons Requires a Referral by a DSS office location/hotline operator. HOPE FOR YOUTH

Provides programs for children, youth and families including Diagnostic and Emergency Services for ages 6 months-20 years. ) Non-Secure Detention for Suffolk County Probation youth, Adolescent Group Home, Foster Homes (can accommodate therapeutic, regular and emergency foster care), Preventive Services (Nassau and Suffolk County Intensive Case Management and Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy. PINS Diversion Clinical Services), and the Family Service Center (outpatient chemical dependency for youth substance abuse clinic) Referrals accepted from Department of Social Services and Department of Probation for both Nassau and Suffolk County, Family Courts, and Mental Health Crisis Respite Bed System.
