TOMPKINS COMMUNITY ACTION- HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM | TOMPKINS COMMUNITY ACTION (TCA)
Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP)(formerly Section 8): rental subsidies to income-eligible individuals and households. Participants generally pay between 30-40% of monthly adjusted income towards housing cost; balance paid directly to the landlord. Housing units are inspected for health and safety before rental assistance begins and at least once per year after. Applicants are ranked based on their application date and time. Current estimated wait list time is 24 to 36 months. Proof of residency documents are needed at time of application.

All programs are targeted to help low income residents achieve self-sufficiency.TCA has a money management program which is free and on-going for anyone involved with a TCA/ EOC or Head Start program.
