Juvenile Restorative Program (JRP)
Diversion program consisting of a three-part series of circles (facilitated conversations) for youth involved in car theft. The first circle is a Restorative Conference, where youth and their support people meet with those they’ve harmed and community members to discuss the impact of the theft and what might repair the harm. The second circle invites youth, community members, and police officers into a circle about community safety and youth-police relations, and the third part connects youth with other services from partnering organizations to ensure they do not cause this harm again. Youth are referred to the program by the District Attorney’s office. If they complete each part and fulfill their Conferencing Agreement, their records are sealed.
