Emphasis is placed on school readiness, brain development, brain building activities, mindfulness, and self-calming activities for parent and child. Active Parenting: For parents of children 5-12 years old. Class consists of three virtual 2-hour sessions. Program addresses how parents can raise responsible, cooperative children who are prepared to meet the challenges of their teen years, resist negative peer pressure, and thrive in the 21st century. Includes explanation on the workings of the developing child/adolescent brain, handling anger, what parents can do to help their child succeed in school, and the importance of contributing to the family via chores. Parents learn positive, non-violent discipline techniques so they can avoid power struggles. Active Parenting of Teens: Class consists of three virtual 2-hour sessions. Equips parents to meet the challenges of their children’s teen years in this complicated day and age.
