Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) - Erie CCE | Cornell Cooperative Extension - Erie County at 21 South Grove Street

Trained nutrition staff from Cornell Cooperative Extension provide a series of nutrition lessons intended to address the challenges faced by low income families. Sessions are typically scheduled once per week for 6-8 weeks at a variety of locations across the county and are provided free of charge to low-income families and youth. Sessions involve a variety of interactive, hands-on activities, food preparation and tasting, and discussions to address the concerns of families. Topics addressed in these sessions are adapted to meet the needs of the individuals in the group. Some examples of the topics discussed at these sessions include: - How to make the most of limited food dollars - Hands-on food preparation of healthy snacks and meals - Recipe modification - The importance of physical activity in a healthy lifestyle - Ideas for increasing fruits and vegetables in meals and snacks - Food safety
