DOWN PAYMENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM | SUFFOLK COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT

Provides qualified first time homebuyers with down payment assistance. The assistance provided will be up to $30,000 for eligible applicants to assist with down payment toward the purchase of an owner-occupied, pre-existing or newly constructed single family residence, condominium, co-operative apartment (Co-op) or manufactured home. Manufactured homes must be placed on real property owned or to be owned by the purchaser, located within the Suffolk County Consortium, which includes all of Suffolk County except the Townships of Islip, Babylon and Brookhaven. Eligibility

Be a first time homebuyer, defined by HUD as a person who has not owned a home during the three year period immediately prior to the purchase of a residence with HOME funding; Have an adjusted gross household income must be within the HUD guidelines (listed in the application); Occupy the property as their principal residence for 10 years; Attend homebuyer counseling at a HUD certified not-for-profit housing agency in person; Not have entered into a Contract of Sale to purchase a home prior to being awarded a Purchaser Certificate from the Suffolk County Community Development Office; Have minimum of $3,000 of their own funds at the time of application in their savings, checking or investment accounts.
