FRIENDLY CALLS PROGRAM | DUTCHESS COUNTY OFFICE FOR THE AGING

Provides volunteers to call homebound individuals, both for companionship and reassurance. Also recruits and trains volunteers for this program. Weekly calls lasting 20-30 minutes.

Program participants: Homebound individuals or individuals experiencing social isolation or loneliness. To be Program volunteers: adults, age 18 and up

Office for the aging offers an array of community based services to the elderly in an effort to promote independence, dignity and quality of life. Provides transportation, legal services, adult day care, caregiver and in-home support, emergency response systems, health promotion, and a long term care ombudsman program.
