RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH SHELTER PROGRAM | HOPE FOR YOUTH
A short term emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth ages 12-20 years old. The program is a voluntary program for up to 30 days. Each youth has an individualized care plan that addresses academic needs, mental health needs, substance abuse needs, and skills necessary to work toward self-sufficiency. The home is supervised 24 hours per day and the staff includes MSW's Residential Counselors and Bachelor's level professionals. This is a co-ed program.

Eligibility
Males and females 12-20 years old at time of intake. This is voluntary program and youth should call for an intake. Access to all Emergency Housing for Homeless Persons Requires a Referral by a DSS office location/hotline operator. Provides programs for children, youth and families including Diagnostic and Emergency Services for ages 6 months-20 years. ) Non-Secure Detention for Suffolk County Probation youth, Adolescent Group Home, Foster Homes (can accommodate therapeutic, regular and emergency foster care), Preventive Services (Nassau and Suffolk County Intensive Case Management and Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy. PINS Diversion Clinical Services), and the Family Service Center (outpatient chemical dependency for youth substance abuse clinic) Referrals accepted from Department of Social Services and Department of Probation for both Nassau and Suffolk County, Family Courts, and Mental Health Crisis Respite Bed System.
