The New York State Sex Offender Registration Act requires the establishment of a telephone number which employers, parents, children's groups and the general public can call to determine whether an individual is a convicted sex offender who is required to register.Callers must have an individual's name and one of the following - an exact address, date of birth, driver's license number, or Social Security number - to learn if that individual is on the Registry.
