Provides free, in-person tax preparation. Returns are prepared by IRS certified volunteers. Taxpayers will be required to pick up an Intake Package from the library prior to their scheduled appointment and complete the Intake Package paperwork at home, then bring the completed paperwork and all necessary tax documentation with them on the day of their appointment. Taxpayers should pick up this intake package *as soon as possible* after scheduling their appointment, no later than one week prior to the appointment if possible. Taxpayers will stay with their assigned tax counselor while each return is completed. Clients who wish to file for multiple years must schedule separate appointments for each tax return they need, and have them filed in chronological order by year.

Application process
Call 211 to schedule appointment. As soon as possible after scheduling - if possible, no more than one week prior to your appointment - you must pick up your Intake Package at the Kenmore Library. The forms within this package must be completed prior to your appointment and brought with you to that appointment. Necessary documentation to bring to your appointment is detailed in your Intake Package, and your signature will be required on several forms. You should also bring your 2024 property tax bills (if relevant to you) to receive the new NY credit. If you wish to file for multiple years, you must schedule separate appointments for each tax return you need, and have them filed in chronological order by year. Tax documents for each year should be kept separate from each other to avoid errors. Each taxpayer must have their own appointment, except in the case of a married couple filing a joint return, in which case only a single appointment is required. Only the taxpayer will be allowed at the appointment; do NOT bring family members, spouse, grandkids, etc., as space is very limited.
