LEARNING WEB, YOUTH OUTREACH PROGRAM | LEARNING WEB
Youth Outreach, a program within The Learning Web, guides and assists homeless and transient young people age 16-24 in moving from dependence to self-sufficiency Using the vehicles of housing, employment, education, parenting, home keeping, managing finances, skill-building and all the components of independent living, we assist young people transitioning from instability to stability. Benefiting from experiential learning, intensive case management, life skills training, and a supported housing program, youth gain the skills to live successful and economically self-sufficient adult lives.A central tool utilized to help homeless youth is the transitional living supported housing (Housing Scholarship Program [HSP]) The Housing Scholarship Program provides rent and utility subsidies to 15 homeless youth ages 16-24, living in 15 scattered site apartments. Supportive services are offered for 12 to 18 months to assist households to maintain stable housing and become self-sufficient. The apartments have a basic set of furniture, linens, safety items, cleaning tools, and start-up groceries supplies to maintain a clean, safe home. Residents can shift their energies from day to day subsistence to strengthening independent living, education and employment skills, leading to self-sufficiency and stability.

LEARNING WEB
Young people-adolescents and young adults- are The Learning Web's reason for being. Assisting young people on their journey to adulthood is our mission: We connect them with an adult role model who helps them learn how to live on their own, while helping them evolve into valued members of our community, combining apprenticeships with mentoring in a range of services that include employment and life skills training, and supervised housing in a program for homeless youth. Through these programs, our participants have developed valuable skills that support them them as their transition into the adult world.
