CARMAN ROAD PRESCHOOL | CARMAN ROAD SCHOOL

Provides comprehensive educational services for 3 to 5 year-old students with multiple physical and developmental disabilities. The educational curriculum and therapeutic design of the program focuses on skill development through traditional teaching methods while engaging the most up to date technologies available. Classroom activities stress academic and readiness skills, social and play skills. Experiential learning through exploration, manipulation, imitation, and socialization are keys to successful skill acquisition. A cross-disciplinary approach allows for classroom activities that develop the skills necessary for day-to-day life. Communication skills are reinforced throughout the school day in an engineered aided language environment, which uses visual strategies and state of the art assistive technology enabling students to make their needs known in each communication environment (e.g., therapy room, classroom, gym). Parents are encouraged to be active participants in their child’s education. Support services are provided by physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, school psychologist and school social worker as well as nursing staff and a consulting physician.
