Provides patrol and other police service to the southern portion of Brookhaven Town, the eastern portion of Islip Town, and the incorporated villages of Patchogue and Bellport. The 5th Precinct hosts an open community meeting the 2nd Tuesday of every month (with the exceptions of July and August). The COPE Unit is tasked with addressing various community concerns, including traffic complaints and quality of life issues. The Community Liaison Officer (CLO) is assigned to the Community Relations Bureau and works in conjunction with the COPE Unit to address community concerns. COPE officers and the CLO regularly communicate with local community groups and attend local community meetings to spread public safety news and messages.
