PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION RESEARCH AND COUNSELING CLINIC | JOAN AND ARNOLD SALTZMAN COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER
Provides diagnostic evaluations and psychological services to adults, adolescents, children and families of diverse cultural backgrounds who are having, behavioral, emotional, learning or adjustment problems. Emphasis is placed on clarifying problem areas, developing realistic goals and providing active short-term treatment. The full psychological evaluation consists of a biographical data review, psychological testing and assessment, an interpretive conference and a written report. Psychotherapeutic programs for behavior change include: Anger management, stress reduction, parent skills training, marriage and family counseling, and counseling for adults and children who have been abused. Consultation with school districts and other professional organizations are also available to develop programs within school and professional settings. The following services are offered: Anxiety and Depression Treatment Program; The Phobia and Trauma Clinic; The Child and Family Trauma Institute; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Clinic; Child and Parent Psychotherapy Services Clinic; Diagnostic and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders; Dialectical Behavior Therapy Clinic; Positive Psychology Institute for Emerging Adults and Institute for Family Forensic Psychology. Includes four clinics and a fully licensed early childhood program: The Diane Lindner-Goldberg Child Care Institute; Counseling and Mental Health Professions; Psychological Evaluation Research and Counseling; Reading/Writing Learning and Speech-Language-Hearing. Each of these units is affiliated with Hofstra University's School of Education, the School of Health and Human Services or Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Center supports high-quality educational and practical experiences for Hofstra University students, and provides services to Hofstra University employees and to the community-at-large.
