Under NY State Law, each county outside of NY City has a County Court. These courts comprise:<br /><b>County Court</b> - hears cases involved with any crimes or violations of law committed within the county &nbsp; <b>Family Court</b> - hears cases involving children and families, juvenile delinquency, child protection, adoptions, support, paternity, foster care placement, etc. &nbsp; <b>Surrogate Court</b> - hears cases involved with inheritance, such as probate of wills and administration of estates, etc. &nbsp; <b>Supreme Court</b> - hears cases involved with negligence, divorces, contract and breach of warranty, etc.
