* LAC provides free legal services to eligible New York residents who need help related to:
- Discrimination because of a criminal record. Includes assistance finding and correcting mistakes on rap sheets and commercial background checks, certificates of rehabilitation, filing employment discrimination complaints, gathering evidence of rehabilitation, and more.
- Discrimination because of an alcohol/drug history. Includes assistance for individuals who have who face discrimination for participating in medication-assisted treatment or medication, such as methadone, buprenorphine (Suboxone), or naltrexone (Vivitrol), to treat their opiate addiction.
- Discrimination for people living with HIV/AIDS. Includes breach of HIV confidentiality or testing rights. Also helps with problems such as health care proxies, living wills, and permanency planning.
