Some of the services provided include: Career Assessment, Referral to Jobs, Contacting Employers on your behalf, Resume preparation assistance, Information on Federal, State and Local Civil Service Opportunities, Job Search Planning, Labor Market Information, Information on direct appointment to Civil Service positions and Referral to other agencies that provide services to veterans. Also available are representatives in your area specifically trained to assist veterans in transitioning from the military, finding a new job or starting a new career. Offers services to protect workers, assist the unemployed, and connect job seekers to jobs. They protect the safety and health of workers and the public. They work aggressively to ensure a fair wage for all workers. The administer the Unemployment Insurance program that gives weekly benefits to workers who are out of work through no fault of their own. The Department of Labor has information and free services for job seekers and workers. They offer: resume help, career guidance, job placement and referrals. At New York State Career Centers, there are Resource Rooms where you can: Use computers and faxes to job hunt; Explore training; Take aptitude tests and Link to partner agencies and services.
