Through the City of Buffalo's Emergency Assistance Loan Programs and 50/50 Loan Program, loan funds are available to assist homeowners in need of making health and safety repairs, addressing building code violations, and making emergency repairs to leaking roofs, sewer line breaks, broken hot water tanks, inoperable furnaces, and faulty electrical service. Heart of the City Neighborhoods is able to assist homeowners in the West Side, Upper West Side, Lower West Side, Elmwood-Bidwell, Elmwood-Bryant, Allentown, and Central Planning Neighborhoods with applications. Fee
Grant and loan funds are provided at no interest by the City of Buffalo; amount to be repaid will be based on household income.
Eligibility
Homeowners who plan to occupy their homes for the foreseeable future and have owned their home for at least 1 year. Applicants must be income qualified at 50% or 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) based on family size and household situation, and must be up to date on all city and county taxes, water bills, user fees, and all other city obligations/fees/fines/payments. Service Area: West Side, Upper West Side, Lower West Side, Elmwood-Bidwell, Elmwood-Bryant, Allentown, & Central Planning Neighborhoods in the City of Buffalo.
